Their first date

They first met through a mutual friend while having lunch in High school in September 2008. They shared jokes which later grew to “best friends” at the end of the same year.

Dating and proposal

Susan never thought of a proposal on Zach’s birthday, at the beach, despite the six years of dating. “Surprisingly, the ring never fell on the sand” Susan notes

Their love life

The two admit the strong emotional bond to the fact that they share everything despite their diverse interests.  Susan loves to cheer while watching game shows while Zachary enjoys recording songs while in the car. "I always watch her, in secret" Zachary confesses.

The Reception

The couple shared their first dance. The speeches contained a right mix of lighthearted fun and touching moments about their connections to the bride and groom and the love that they share.

Dinner was a gourmet delight but the real star of the day was the delicious cake. The baker outdid themselves by creating a treat that not only looked remarkable but tasted as good as it looked. If you have been to many weddings, you probably know that this is not always the case. After dinner was served, the real party began as the dance floor was occupied by the guests. The DJ played a great mix of music that was able to satisfy both the young and old. The wedding was a grand celebration and of course, all of these magical moments captured by the talents of David Eric Photography.

As part of our blog, we interview the bride and groom about their wedding experience. This is what they said:

Tell us about Jennine: where you grew up, went to school, where you work.
I grew up in East Hanover, NJ. I graduated Hanover Park High School in 2004. I recently started a new job as Assistant Store Manager of Pet Supplies Plus. I previously worked at a home, garden, and pet supply store where I was a department manager and buy. I have a passion for dogs and other animals. Advocate for the pit bull breed and dog mom to rescue pit bull mixes.

How did you guys first meet? Who, what, when, where, why? Give us the dirty details.
We met on the dating app Plenty of Fish in April 2014. I (Jennine) saw his profile and told a friend I was in love! He’s hot, has tattoos, same music interest, and loves pit bulls! It couldn’t get any better! He has two pit bulls that were his world and just as important to him as mine are to me. I figured he was out of my league and just added him to my “favorites.” He messaged me shortly after and the same day we decided to meet for a drink and hung out and talked until 4 in the morning. We went on a second date the next day and before the weekend was over we no longer were on the dating app. We haven’t left each other’s side since.

When did you both know he was the one? Was there something he did?
We had an undeniable connection from the start that just pulled us together. Hard to explain but I got a feeling I never had before. I can feel the love with every little touch, kiss or hug…just a true natural connection. I truly feel that everything in my life happened for a reason and brought us together because that’s what is meant to be.

Capturing great shots of the Bride and Groom with their bridal party is a very important part of the day. But even more important of course is getting those incredible shots of just the two. These were taken at Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ.

Capturing great shots of the Bride and Groom with their bridal party is a very important part of the day. But even more important of course is getting those incredible shots of just the two. These were taken at Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ.

Tell us about the proposal? Did you see it coming? (What long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
I was completely shocked and did not expect it at all! One night when we were staying at my parents’ house, I had just woken up from a nap. When I got out of the shower, Mike was in the living room “helping” my mom with the TV. He and my mom kept yelling at me to come in there. I was getting annoyed and noticed my dog in the living room at their feet squirming against the couch and asked, “What are you doing to my dog?” I saw that there was something on him. I went in the living room to see my boy, Cash, with a t-shirt on that says something. He was leaning against the couch so half of the words were hard to read. After taking a minute to read, I was in shock and trying to process what was happening. I see my mom recording me when I realize the shirt says, “Will you marry Daddy?” and a ring tied to his collar. I swore at them and asked if this was real. I couldn’t believe this amazing moment was happening and being filmed. But it was all so perfect. It took him a couple of months to have the ring I loved made and tried to plan a night away for us to propose but with our work schedules it was difficult. It all happened for a reason because it was perfect. I wouldn’t want this special moment not to have my baby, Cash, involved.

Tell us the one thing that you love most about each other.
Compassion and love for each other and the same compassion and love for dogs.

Besides getting married - what is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
I am really looking forward to and excited for our first dance. We have not had many chances to enjoy those moment besides one wedding we attended. I feel that it really is a moment for us to have without the hustle of the wedding interrupting and really soak it all in.

Jennine and Mike had a beautiful outdoor ceremony for their wedding. The ceremony took place at Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ.

Sean and Theodora -The Two PhD's in a Pod

June 17th was a defining day in the lives of Sean and Theodora, and it went off without a hitch—well, except for that big one we were all expecting.

Sean and Theodora are vibrant and successful people who have decided to come together in the bonds of everlasting love and their families couldn't be happier. Sean currently holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Theodora is pursuing hers in Biology. (brilliant babies anyone?)

Bride and Groom getting ready for their wedding bergen county new jersey. It is all about the details like cufflings, brides shoes and wedding jewlery.

Their story is an all-American one, and their lives became intertwined the moment they laid eyes on each other their move-in day at college.

Both bright-eyed and nervous Freshmen at the time, their love began with a deep appreciation and friendship as two young neighbors both exploring the ups and downs of student life. It wasn't until Senior year that Sean got up the nerve to take it to the next level, and Theodora, of course, was overjoyed.

Their wedding took place at Ascension Greek Orthodox Church 101 Anderson Ave, Fairview, NJ 07022

Fast forward to Theodora giving a huge presentation in Princeton, NJ that meant the world to her. She labored over it for weeks and her nerves were at an all time high. Sean was there to listen and encourage her throughout the whole process (just as he always was in life).

What happened next was magic. A true companion and supportive partner, Sean took Theodora to an amazing dinner to celebrate her immediate success. They chatted and romanced for hours and Sean glowed within—his secret slowly smoldering in his pocket.

They used the brownstone 351 W Broadway, Paterson, NJ 07522 for their wedding photos of the bride and groom and bridal party photos.

The second they got back to the room, he couldn't hold it in any longer. He dropped to one knee as he had envisioned for years, and barely heard his own words as Theodora exclaimed an excited "YES!!"

The next day Theodora was equally surprised with a spa day and an entire family there ready to party and celebrate their intended union. It was then that the couple knew they were truly some of the luckiest people on earth.

Their reception was held in the Grand Ballroom at the Brownstone in Paterson, NJ

The wedding was a few weeks ago and it was one of the most joyful events we have ever photographed. Held at the famous Brownstone, in Patterson, NJ, everything was pure elegance, class, and lots of letting loose.

Most importantly, it was a union of the ages and we wish them nothing but happiness and success for years to come!

Congratulations Theodora and Sean!

We first met in high school because of friends, but we officially got to know each other when we both worked for the Mayor's campaign in Hoboken, NJ, and always remained friends throughout high school, college, and thereafter.

When did you both know he was the one? Was there something he did? Etc.

We were nothing more than just friends, but there was always something about him. I didn't think more into it because we both were in different relationships at the time. I think we both needed to mature and go through life separately to then come together. After college, he looked different and not so boyish anymore. He grew into this man with direction, intelligence (which I'm a sucker for) and charm. He makes me happy and makes me laugh so much even on the worst days, and that's exactly how I want to spend the rest of my life.

How did he propose? (Did you see it coming? How long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)

After almost 5 years of being together, we knew we both wanted to take the next step. But always said it was cliche to propose on valentines day so I never expected it on that day. Plus the week before, my cousin & a best friend had both gotten engaged on the same day. We had actually both been sick that entire week and took care of ourselves.

It was February 13th, the day before Valentines, and he said we should do something to celebrate and get out of the house, and that he had a few things planned. We took a cab ride to the fancy Ritz-Carlton in front of Central Park. When we arrived, they said the room wasn't ready and for us to have a cocktail while we waited. As we had drinks, we were enjoying our time, and while we were still a little sick, we'd laugh so hard we'd start coughing at the same time, and then we'd laugh even more. Once the room was ready, they had a guest service take us to our room which I found odd. When he opened the door, there was a hallway into the room with rose petals and classical music playing. As I walked in further, there were petals on the bed in the shape of a heart, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. I thought to myself, this is probably what the hotel does for Valentine's day and how romantic it was, and while I was still observing everything, Daniel came up behind me, and I saw a red little heart-shaped box in his hand. I couldn't believe it! I said Daniel are you serious?! I was in disbelief and couldn't hold back the tears. As he got down on one knee, he said, "I know you've been waiting for this forever, but how about spending forever with me." I then, of course, said yes! We hugged and kissed and gave me his great-grandmother's ring which we both loved very much but had just passed away. It meant everything to me. We then went to our favorite live band place Cafe Wha and danced to our favorite songs.

The Seasons Catering, Township of Washington, NJ Hosts a Special Day

At this past wedding, the food was delicious, the flowers were inspiring, and the DJ kept the guests entertained for the entire night. It was a classic wedding with all of the traditional wedding activities and traditions. The bride and groom tied the knot in front of friends and family in a beautiful ceremony that symbolized the love that they share.

5 Steps to Staying Organized on Your Big Day

The moment has finally come. Your special day. The one you have been waiting for... It's the wedding and the LAST thing you need to do is panic about everything that should get done. Although people are surrounding you to help, it's always good to get a mental list going so you don't panic when the time comes.

We've been shooting weddings and happy couples for decades, so we know a few things about how exactly to get organized on your big day. As professional wedding photographers, the following are 5 suggestions we can give on how to be prepared for the happiest times of your life (no pressure...)

#1 Contact List

Yes, we know you have everyone in your phone, but maybe Grandma doesn't have a cell. A contact sheet is a convenient register to have close by that lists everyone attending your wedding, along with the best information to reach them.

Don't keep this list on hand, however, pass it off to the Maid-of-Honor or the Best Man to use in case of emergencies. It's not something you should actively worry about on your big day.

#2 Create a Timeline

An itinerary or a rough schedule will help you stay as close to a timeline as possible. We know things pop up here and there but the last thing you need is to worry about what is happening when. This is another document you can pass off to someone closer to manage, but it's always good to have on hand.

#3 Survival Kits

These aren't just for the bride. Having a wedding survival kit with mini-items for convenience is a great way to keep you from rushing around last minute. For the groom, it can be pretty simple.

Some mints, a comb, perhaps a little gel. For the bride, we've seen some doozies, but the following is a good guide:

  • Hairspray
  • Bobby pins
  • Mints
  • Deodorant
  • Band-aids
  • Fashion tape
  • Sewing kit
  • Q-Tips
  • Good luck charm

No matter what you throw in there, the idea is to have a little something prepared for a little everything.

#4 Stay Hydrated

I know this sounds fairly obvious, but one of the main things we notice that brides and grooms forget to do on their big day is simply to DRINK water. Stay hydrated. Especially if you are also nervously sipping champagne at an early hour.

Be prepped and have a few bottle stashed for every location before the ceremony. Have the Maid-of-Honor throw some in her purse, or the Best Man keep a case in his car. It's important that no one passes out!

#5 On-Site Contact

Make sure you designate one person in your party as the on-site contact for all questions and directions. This person can be the day-of wedding planner, a representative from the venue, or a trusted family member or friend. The idea is that you plan to have someone fill the role, so you both don't have to worry about answering a million little questions.

No matter how hard you plan, chances are you still may feel anxious on your big day. Relax. It's all about you. These are just a few things to put your mind at ease so you can move on to more important things...like making memories that last a lifetime.

If you have any questions about how to prep for the big day, or if you want to schedule a session, give us a call. We'd be happy to further discuss your planning ideas.
