The Best Ways to Prepare for Your Engagement Session

Prepping for an engagement shoot may seem like a piece of cake, but with planning, practice sessions, busy schedules, and organizing wedding stuff, you may need a helping hand.

At David Eric, we specialize in engagement shoots and we often give advice to couples on exactly how to best prepare for the day. The following are the top 5 things we always tell them:

What to Wear

Rather than trying to match each other, coordinate your outfits instead. Complementary colors work best. You should bring 2 outfits each— 1 casual and 1 dressy. Try to stay away from loud patterns that will distract from your faces.

Bold jewelry, scarves, and bright colors DO photograph well. If you're not sure, bring more rather than less. After all, you can leave the extra clothes in your trunk, but you won't have time to pick up anything once the shoot begins.

Location Scout

Don't wait until the day of the session to decide on exactly where you want to shoot. The best places are obviously the ones that mean something to you as a couple. Perhaps it was that cafe for your first date or the boardwalk following a first kiss. Whatever it may be, make sure you know where and how to get there ahead of time.

David_Eric Photography_wedding_David_Eric Photography_wedding_hochstein_ls_0067_0472 (1).png

The lighting is also something to consider. The best times to photograph are 2 hours after sunrise, and 2 hours before sunset. Always make sure you are on time for your shoot because the lighting is important. Of course, being early is the best way to be prepared in case you have any questions.

Get Inspired

If you're having some trouble getting inspired, check out some of our past engagement sessions. We photograph all over Bergen County, New Jersey, and New York. If you need some extra ideas after looking through our portfolio, feel free to ask when you schedule. We have years of experience and can help you come up with some fun ideas for a relaxing shoot.

Props/Themes

Not all accessories are something you wear. Some of the best engagement sessions we have photographed also include props. If you have a theme for your engagement shoot (think beach, forest, landmark, etc...) there is always a prop you can bring. If you're sitting on the beach, a bright blanket creates the perfect staging.

David_Eric Photography_wedding_David_Eric Photography_wedding_Seibel_LS_NB_0055_0942.png

If you have a pet, they also make great cameos in engagement shots. Dogs can wear creative signs announcing your engagement. The opportunities are endless when you bring props to inspire.

The Details

The best advice we can possibly give to brides when it comes to prepping for their engagement shoot is to get that hair and makeup pre-application in. There is no better time for a wedding day practice run than right before an engagement session.

Additionally, we love to take close ups of your ring, so make sure you have it cleaned and polished the day of your session.

Don't skimp on the prep for your engagement shoot because you are so wrapped up in wedding planning. Use this as the perfect time to complement the entire wedding process. Do a trial run of hair and makeup, scout your most romantic locations, and bring all the props and clothes you need to make it happen. Most importantly, be yourselves, get comfortable, and your love will do the rest.

If you have any questions about how to prep for an engagement shoot, or if you want to schedule a session today, give us a call. We'd be happy to capture your love story.

From Puppy Love to Regal Romance: The Story of Lyndsay and Charles

Lyndsay Dahdah and Charles Batihka began their wedding journey when Charles proposed to Lyndsay at the same spot that they had their first kiss—but their story goes so much farther back than that.

Best friends since the 5th grade, Lyndsay and Charles met at Sunday School and have been inseparable ever since. Like any puppy love, they spent time riding their bikes together, eating out, and going on hikes. Almost like a fairytale, they knew it was meant to be from their first kiss all those years ago.

dahdah 2.jpg

Charles is a quirky accountant and Lyndsay works as a teacher, but they truly make for the perfect match. Charles completely surprised Lyndsay with the proposal. She was shocked (but no one else was)! Both of their parents are still together and regal romance seems to be in their blood.

They attribute the success of their relationship to their sense of humor and the ability to love each other for who they truly are.

A truly inspiring love, Lyndsay and Charles give each other silly nicknames and always make sure to say "Good Morning, Good Night, and I Love You."  They're all about having fun and making sure everyone else does, so as you can imagine, shooting their special day was a blast.

The wedding was held at St. Ann's in Woodland Park, NJ, followed by a beautiful reception at the Westmount Country Club.

If you have any questions about shooting your impending nuptials, please give us a call.

How a Checkup Turned Into True Love: The Story of Rachna and Tom

Rachna Thakker and Tom Mathew first met in March of 2014 when Tom finally broke down after a decade away from the dentist. Little did he know it was the best decision he would ever make...because Rachna walked in with the clipboard.

bergen_county_new_jersey_Battello_Jersey_City_wedding_0033.jpg

Settling an office debate, he won over his dentist and their first date was to the Broadway show, The Book of Mormon. The rest is history.

Rachna grew up in India but moved to Carlstadt, NJ in the 90's. After attending UMDNJ Dental and Rutgers, she opened up her own practice in Clifton, NJ. Tom grew up in north NJ and went to school at John Hopkins in Baltimore. He works at a major international bank—making these two quite the busy pair.

Tom's proposal to Rachna was the best you can get but it almost ended in disaster. Standing on top of the Eiffel Tower, in Paris, he almost dropped the ring! Thankfully, he didn't, and their love story culminated on June 9th, 2017 at Saint Thomas Apostolic Church in Tenafly, New Jersey.

The 200 guest reception was held at Battello in Jersey City, NJ, right on the water. The bride wore two dresses, one that was from David's Bridal and the other was a traditional Indian dress that was finished at Nazranaa in Islein, NJ. On of the top Tailors in NYC, Martin Greenfield designed all of the custom tuxedos for the occasion. So, as you can see, these two were looking super sharp on their special day.

According to the happy couple, the best thing about their wedding day is getting to share it with everyone else (and of course, the food)! And we were happy to help photograph them. If you have questions on how we can cover your amazing love story with beautiful pictures, please contact us today.

Boudoir Wedding Shoots: A Modern Bride's Special Gift to her Hubby

Leave the romance for your wedding day! The newest trend for brides-to-be are sexy boudoir wedding shoots. Give the gift that keeps on giving with a special album for his eyes only. This is about being a confident bride, while feeling sexy and empowered. So what exactly does a boudoir shoot entail?

Setting

The shoot can take place in our studio or any other setting in which the bride feels the most comfortable. We understand the need for an intimate location with this type of photography. We can shoot your boudoir photos anywhere you'd like in Bergen County— the number one goal is always the bride's comfort.

Styling

Although the intent is to feel sexy, a Boudoir shoot is also meant to leave a little to the imagination. It's a classy memento for your significant other that is a separate wedding memory for just the two of you.

Bergen County New Jersey Boudior Photography_050sm.jpg

Some brides choose an outfit that resembles their dress while others may go for a playful theme—like country western with a hat and boots. The idea is to make it about who you two are as a couple, while also keeping it playful and fun.

Scheduling

The best time to schedule a Boudoir shoot in Bergen County, New Jersey is a few months before the wedding. Not only does it raise the excitement for the wedding night itself, it allows the bride to experiment with hair and makeup looks before the day of the wedding.

Timing

How long the shoot takes generally depends on your location and attire. The more outfits you have, the longer it will run. You should always plan for at least few hours to get the shots you need. After all, this isn't the type of shoot you rush through. Getting comfortable in your own skin can sometimes take time, but once you see your album, we promise you'll be blown away.

Go With a Pro

A professional wedding photographer, like David Eric, will know how to shoot you at just the right angles and the proper lighting to make you feel like the sexy bride you should be. They can direct you on how to pose with positions that make you look your best. Going with a pro also ensures all of your photos are carefully retouched and bound in an album for hubby's safekeeping.

If you have any questions about how we set-up or style a shoot, give us a call today. We'd be happy to answer any questions to put the bride's mind at ease.

New Jersey Wedding Photographers: Jerry and Caroline Rizzo

Tell us about the bride: Where you grew up, went to school, where you work.
Karen grew up in Ridgewood, NJ. She is a graduate of St. Joseph's University and currently works as a Sales Training Manager at Bausch and Lomb Vision Care.

Tell us about the groom: Where you grew up, went to school, where you work.
Keith grew up in Middlesex, NJ. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and currently works as a Sr. Analyst Sales Finance Nestle Nutrition, Gerber division.

How did you first meet? Who, what, when, where, why? Give us the dirty details.
Keith and I knew we had met "the one" on our first date. We met like most people do in this day and age, on Match.com. Who knew Kagcruzen300 in the red Rutgers football jersey was chosen as one of my "must see matches" that night in late October 2015 would be the man whom I'd say "yes" to in OUR backyard just 9 months later? Our first date was planned like most internet first dates. Keith invited me to get a drink at a local place in Morristown on Saturday, November 21st. With butterflies in our stomachs we met outside of Sona13 and began a date that would last 10 hours. We started with a drink, pumpkin beer to be exact and before we knew it, 2 hours had passed. The "just drinks date" quickly turned into dinner, then dancing and finished with talking till 3am while closing down a local bar. Keith and I couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to each other and how quickly time passed. Little did we know this would be how our courtship progressed. Each time we were together we would be amazed at how quickly time passed and how we just kept talking. During Christmas, we were apart but that didn't stop us from being with each other over Skype. We knew it was serious when our days apart were spent on the phone with each other.

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did? etc.
It was in December when they went into the city to meet Karen's friends Laura and Joe.

How did he propose? (Did you see it coming? How long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Keith proposed to Karen one Friday night in the summer of 2016. They had just bought a house in Randolph, NJ and were shopping for couches that day. Later on, Keith suggested they go out to the backyard to drink champagne under the stars in their new backyard. Karen hemmed and hawed because it was late and she didn't want to stay up, but finally she gave in. After some trouble getting down to the yard with champagne and chocolate, Keith proposed a toast and as he spoke it started to sink in that it wasn't just any toast. Karen was exited, nervous and overwhelmed with happiness when Keith got down on one knee to ask if she'd marry him.

Besides getting married - What is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Enjoying all the fun and festivities with our close family and friends.

What inspired your decor or theme?
Romance!

The one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
Keep it small. :)

Why did you pick your Wedding Venue? What Attracted you?
The Rockleigh holds a special place in Karen's world. Her father has worked with Jerry (owner of the Rockleigh) since she was a little girl and always imagined her wedding being held at such a beautiful place.

The Reception

The couple shared their first dance. The speeches contained a right mix of lighthearted fun and touching moments about their connections to the bride and groom and the love that they share.

Dinner was a gourmet delight but the real star of the day was the delicious cake. The baker outdid themselves by creating a treat that not only looked remarkable but tasted as good as it looked. If you have been to many weddings, you probably know that this is not always the case. After dinner was served, the real party began as the dance floor was occupied by the guests. Awards and Accomplishments - 2017 David Eric Photography

We are pleased to announce some recent accomplishments of David Eric Photography!

Two of our recent images were chosen to be featured in the Inspiration Section (Best of Weddings) of Shutter Magazine, an industry leading trade publication. Also, one of photographs was entered in the Vision Awards Print Competition at Shutterfest 2017 (held this past April) and received a merit!

What earns a merit?

1.) Impact is the sense one gets upon viewing an image for the first time. Compelling images evoke laughter, sadness, anger, pride, wonder, or another intense emotion. There can be impact in any of these twelve elements.

2.) Technical Excellence is the print quality of the image itself as it is presented for viewing. Retouching, manipulation, sharpness, exposure, printing, mounting, and correct color are some items that speak to the qualities of the physical print.

3.) Creativity is the original, fresh, and external expression of the imagination of the maker by using the medium to convey an idea, message, or thought.

4.) Style is defined in a number of ways as it applies to a creative image. It might be defined by a specific genre or simply be recognizable as the characteristics of how a specific artist applies light to a subject. It can impact an image in a positive manner when the subject matter and the style are appropriate for each other, or it can have a negative effect when they are at odds.

5.) Composition is important to the design of an image, bringing all of the visual elements together in concert to express the purpose of the image. Proper composition holds the viewer in the image and prompts the viewer to look where the creator intends. Effective composition can be pleasing or disturbing, depending on the intent of the image maker.

6.) Presentation affects an image by giving it a finished look. The mats and borders used, either physical or digital, should support and enhance the image, not distract from it.

7.) Color Balance supplies harmony to an image. An image in which the tones work together, effectively supporting the image, can enhance its emotional appeal. Color balance is not always harmonious and can be used to evoke diverse feelings for effect.

8.) Center of Interest is the point or points on the image where the maker wants the viewer to stop as they view the image. There can be primary and secondary centers of interest. Occasionally there will be no specific center of interest when the entire scene collectively serves as the center of interest.

9.) Lighting - the use and control of light - refers to how dimension, shape, and roundness are defined in an image. Whether the light applied to an image is manmade or natural, proper use of it should enhance an image.

10.) Subject Matter should always be appropriate to the story being told in an image.

11.) Technique is the approach used to create the image. Printing, lighting, posing, capture, presentation media, and more are part of the technique applied to an image.

12.) Story Telling refers to the image’s ability to evoke imagination. One beautiful thing about art is that each viewer might collect his or her own message or read their own story in an image.

Also, for the sixth year in a row, we were awarded the Couples' Choice Award from Weddingwire. This award is chosen by real brides based on their reviews. This award demonstrates our commitment to excellence and honors us as being in the top 5% of wedding professionals on Weddingwire.

David Eric Photography Pet Portrait Days Photos

Hi everyone! I just wanted to thank everyone that came in to have their pet photos taken during our Pet Portrait Days. Everyone was so generous this year with all the donations. Our pet portrait days was another huge success with over $500 in donations to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge (RBARI) in Oakland, NJ, a wonderful organization that promotes in giving shelter to homeless pets as they await for their forever homes. While there, the animals are given medical care and comfort while they are waiting to be adopted to new families.

I always have so much fun playing with all of our four-legged friends during these sessions. Big or small, these guys love coming in for their special photo shoot. This year we had pets as small as a toy poodle to an adult Rottweiler, which I called my "gentile giant." What a great way to showcase your special family member in your home! Everyone was so sweet and easy to work with. Here are some of my favorites from the weekend of pet portraits. Check them out and look for your babies in here!

Tell us about the bride: Where you grew up, went to school, where you work.

Julie grew up in Palisades Park, NJ and went to Monmouth University where she earned a BS in Accounting. She currently works at IDA

in Oakland as assistant to the CFO and has been there for the past 11 years. She loves the beach and the Jersey shore, scrapbooking

and other crafts, and running/walking 5ks.

Tell us about the groom: Where you grew up, went to school, where you work.

Brad grew up in Verona, NJ and works at Campbell Foundry in shipping. He enjoys football (Go New Orleans Saints!), video games, and WWE Wrestling. He is a fan of The Walking Dead, 24, and a big movie buff of films like The Godfather and Rocky series.

How did you first meet? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

We met online through OkCupid. Julie was done with the dating scene and gave one last guy a chance to wow her. Expecting basically just a free dinner before she quit the dating sites for a while, Brad came to the date and laid everything out on the table: the good, the bad, and the ugly. It was real from the first date, honest and refreshing. We had date two a few days later and on date three he made it official bf/gf status and the rest is history...

We dated for almost 10 months before he proposed on Super Bowl Sunday and I said yes.

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did? etc.

When he was honest on the first date, it got me.

How did he propose? (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)

I was expecting it to be in the upcoming months but not as soon as it was: Super Bowl Sunday at my best friend's house. He got a onesie for my 5-month-old godson that said, "Aunt Julie, will you make Brad my uncle?" He came over to me with the baby and said, "Matthew has something to ask you," and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was in shock because I wasn't expecting it just yet but of course I said yes because I was ready to say yes already before that.

He was nervous to pick out a ring that I would love and nervous about asking but he did an awesome job. I love the ring and him too!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

I love that he is real. What you see is what you get.

I love her generosity, creativity, and perseverance.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

She has a laugh, a high pitched squeal laugh, when something funny hits hard and fast out of nowhere.

Besides getting married - What is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

The awesome party, our families being all together (from all over the country), our first dance.

Tell us your favorite trend for weddings right now.

Practical favors; less is more. Dancing all night long.

What inspired your decor or theme?

Julie loves the beach. It is a part of her soul and we spent a lot of our weekends down the shore when we were first dating. We love the boardwalk and sunsets.

The one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

I wish I knew I had to win the lottery before getting engaged to afford any wedding in New Jersey. Although, I kinda already knew that having been born and raised here.

Why did you pick your Wedding Venue, What Attracted you?

It's beautiful, has an outdoor ceremony option, and it's the best food. They know what they are doing and we can trust they will do it all without too much stress for the bride.

Best of Wedding Photos 2016 The Details and the Fun

Best of wedding photos 2016 The Details and the Fun

A Great Wedding Photographer

The adage that says a picture is worth a thousand words is so true for the best of wedding photos. A couple has that one day and one moment to look into each other's eyes and pledge their undying love and commitment to each other. The mixture of emotions cannot be fully captured that go through that ceremony unless you have a good photographer who has a sixth sense about when exactly that spark passes between the couple. A good wedding photographer;

Should know how to blend the many elements in a ceremony and contain them in a series of single shots that tell a story. Most people think there are too much staging and pageantry that goes into weddings but a good photographer shouldn't have to care if you'll be playing Cinderella or swinging from vines. It's your day, your script and for a photographer, the dress, the bridesmaids, the venue and everything else is props meant to enhance the moment. The photographer is the artist who puts everything together onto a canvas and creates a masterpiece. In that sense, no two weddings will ever be the same. If you look at it that way, you will realize the experience that a photographer needs to have. It's good to have platforms where their work is recognized and celebrated.

A Seasoned Wedding Photographer

Acquaints himself with the couple's vision and capture the way they want their unique. A good photographer will stick to the brief as much as he or she can while infusing some nuances that are immediately apparent or grow on you the more you look back at the pictures. A good photographer will also choreograph the shots without being too obstructive.

Jerry and Caroline do more than taking pictures of the dress, the cake, and all the other obvious things. They weave a story and will have the ability to arrest the emotions on faces, capture the giggles of bridesmaids without them knowing someone was looking or the wistfulness or the sadness of the father giving away his daughter.catching the slight movement of the dress being blown by the wind is the ability of a seasoned wedding photographer. All in all, this is the guy who preserves your most important day and captures the happiness, the fun and the joy in a frame. Proving why seasoned Best of Wedding Photographers are a must for your Wedding

We feature Best of Wedding Photos 2016 details, and the fun couples have posed for their wedding pics to celebrate these artists the work and the happy client.

Best of Wedding | The Groom

Best of Wedding The Groom

The groom, he is just as important as the bride. More often than not, everyone focuses so much on the bride that we forget about the groom. Here are some pose ideas that would make a handsome, composed and delightful groom and best of wedding photos.

Getting ready-

In these moments, capturing the groom do his thing keeps the shots natural and also creates a comparison for his composure and the shots for later in the day when he is no longer alone. It’s important not to distract him so using the natural light without the flash would capture the best of wedding photos.

Groomsmen Fun- playful and bonding sessions of the groom and his men must be inclusive. Here the groom lets loose gets silly and dares for very fun poses. Photos from these moments are treasured to both the groom and the bride because they bring out a relaxed side of the groom.

Wine with friends

It's, of course, an intense day but it doesn’t have to be, capturing the groom and his party sharing some drinks and laughs could be a great collection of memorable moments. Again he is relaxed, easy to take a great shot.

Final Touch up

It’s rare to see men help each other in dressing up. A couple of shots of the groomsmen helping the groom suit up are quite valuable. In some moments, they will tease him, make him blush or even give him some fashion advice on how to get that bowtie right. Any groom would kill to get every angle of these photos.

The Suit

Who doesn’t look elegant in a dazzling suit? It could be lots of fun taking details of his outfit once he is all dressed up. Like zooming in for his necktie, shoes, wristwatch and a full capture of his favorite pose.

Finally, catch him staring at the bride. Best of wedding Photos can express a thousand words. Get the one that says, “Aren’t I a lucky man?”

Urban Street Photography - David Eric Photography

Urban Street Photography

We love urban street photography as it is the representation of urban spaces and the lives of those living, working and moving through such spaces. it takes many forms including architectural, landscape, portrait, street, object, performance, documentary, archaeological, design and fine-art photography. My preference is still for the urban environment, and that's simply because of circumstances which have brought me to photograph in rutherford and ridgewood downtown area. I like the old town look the textures of the buildings, walls, and metal staircases. Shoot into the windows of the coffee shops. The hustle and bustle of the people in the background. It is photography at it rawest. It is the serial look of a perfect park setting where it appears like you are all alone.

How to shoot Urban Street Photography

To successfully shoot these portraits, I had to pull out every technique I learned. The surroundings were always different, whether inside a building or outside on the street. I took portraits in the morning, at noon, and at dusk. The weather was always unpredictable; I shot in the rain, in the snow, in the hail, and in the sun. So long as you keep you and your couple safe and aware of your surroundings, as you are on busy streets, then you shouldn't have a problem getting some great photos. I find the genre very fascinating! I've had the bug for years and cannot see it dying down anytime soon.

Contact us!

These areas are in constant change which means you can visit one area and revisit it a few months later! Unable to recognize it or discover new angles that can make the same location look totally different. So if you if you are looking for something different than a pretty park setting, something that is more in-tune with your personality give us a call at David Eric Photography to hit the streets for some great urban portraits!

Ramapo Valley County Reservation

Ramapo Valley County Reservation

Three of our favorite park settings to photograph at, is the Ramapo Valley County Reservation. It is also known as the Ramapo Reservation and the Skyland Manor at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens as well as the Eston Tower in Paramus. The Ramapo Reservation is a 4000+acre county park located in Mahwah, New Jersey in bergen county. It borders ringwood state park to the north and the Ramapo Mountain State forest to the south. At the reservation we can photograph along treed paths, hiking along a mountain brook to photograph by the waterfall and scarlet oak pond. This park may be only 20 minutes from New York City! But, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere! Skyland manor at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens is a garden for all seasons and all the right reasons! This place is great to photograph couples at matter what the time of year!

The Story of Clarence Mckenzie

Photograph in the garden path in summer, make use of the bright foliage of autumn, enjoy the quiet solitude of winter. Our couples enjoy the variety that the area offers from the gardens to taking photos around historic Skylands Manor, a tudor revival manor built by Clarence Mckenzie lewis in the mid-1920s the castle offer some great vista views. Other areas we like to photograph at is the east side of the manor house begins the terrace garden, a series of five terraces, each with its unique essence. The first terrace features an octagonal pool with a swan fountain adding some great background for the photo. Easton tower is a unique site in bergen county.

History of Ramapo Valley County Reservation

This picturesque stone and wood frame structure was built along the saddle river in 1900 as part of a landscaped park in the Arcola Area of Paramus. The mill also know to a haunted site, strange noises are heard by neighbors coming from the building after nightfall.  For many years, the setting of the red mill, with its two dams, bridge, and stream, made it a favorite place for us to photograph our couples. in all the time we have been photographing there we have not experienced any phenomenon only great photos. So if you are looking to do an engagement session that offers a wide variety of looks in the same location, you can not go wrong with doing an engagement session with David Eric photography.

Lambert's Castle "The Castle" - David Eric Photography

Lambert Castle

Constructed in 1892 as the home and showplace of silk manufacturer Catholina Lambert, the 53-acre estate originally included the mansion, gatehouse, carriage-green house complex, and formal Italianate gardens. Lambert added an art gallery and observation tower Four years later. The property is now owned by the County of Passaic and is an integral part of Garret Mountain Reservation Lambert Castle "The Castle,"

The Story of Catholina Lambert

Lambert was born to working class parents in England in 1834. At the age of 17, the future silk magnate and his younger brother immigrated to America. Lambert settled in the Boston area and hired as a bookkeeper for the silk firm of Tilt and Dexter. Tilt withdrew from the company, and Dexter loaned Lambert the necessary funds to buy into the partnership. The company, now known as Dexter-Lambert, relocated its base of operations to Paterson. In 1867 Paterson was emerging as a world-class silk manufacturing center.

Problems for Lambert Castle

In 1914, financial problems forced Lambert to mortgage his estate and art collection. Several hundred items are on auction at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Lambert died in 1923, a few weeks shy of his 89th birthday. His son and heir, Walter, inherited the Castle and sold the furnishings and later the Castle itself for $125,000 to the City of Paterson

The New Jersey and National Registers Of Historical Places awarded the Lambert Castle landmark designation in 1976. We love using the architecture of the stone building and archways in our photos, it makes the images more unique and exciting! Lambert Castle is treasure hidden in Passaic County. One of the most popular places for us to photograph our weddings and engagement session, give us a call to at 201-880-5400 setup your time with Jerry or Caroline at Lambert Castle!

The History of New Bridge Landing

One of our favorite place to photograph is New Bridge Landing which served as a battleground, fort, encampment ground, military headquarters, and intelligence-gathering post in every year of the American revolution.

The Steuben House

The Steuben House, a state historic site, is the only existing building remaining from the 1776 retreat through Bergen County, the retreat to victory. The house was Washington's h.q. while 14,000 soldiers camped nearby for two weeks in 1780. It has been the Bergen County historical society's h.q. Since 1939. Hall is only open for events; the grounds are open dawn to dusk. Our collections were begun in 1902 when the organization was founded. They represent the largest collection of artifacts and documents reflecting the history of Bergen County. The different building offers our couple a very rustic look right in the middle of a city.

We have use of a barn three different type of homes one of which is the Steuben House is an artifact of the revolution. It memorializes the "Drillmaster of the American Revolution," major-general Baron Von Steuben.  The bridge that crosses the Hackensack River that looks like it is right out of the movie, The Bridges of Madison County offering our client a different look in the same location. The 1889 swing bridge is now a pedestrian crossing connecting Teaneck/new Milford, and River Edge/Hackensack. Here is a little more history of new bridge landing Alexander Hamilton at new bridge lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway smash-hit musical, Hamilton, based on Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography, has not only revived interest in this nation’s first treasury secretary.R

Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton, but it perhaps also might be credited with preserving his portrait on the ten-dollar bill. In connection with hamilton's topicality, this letter, addressed from him while he served on Washington’s staff at New Bridge Landing. He offered insight into its writer’s gloomy outlook on the war effort. He began to grow disdain for weak and indecisive government. It also highlights new bridge’s intricate involvement in the American Revolution as a battleground, military headquarters, and intelligence post. It was repeatedly occupied and contested by both armies. Give us a call to setup up your engagement photos with David Eric Photography and get a little bit of country in the city!
