Tell us about the bride Where you grew up went to school, where you work.

I was born in Georgetown, Guyana and moved to America when I was 5 years old. My family settled in Flatbush Brooklyn. We moved to Staten Island when I was 13 and lived in Dongan Hills. We moved shortly after to South Beach in Staten Island where I spent most of my adolescent years. I graduated from Egbert JH and Tottenville HS. I obtained an Associates in Applied Science from The College of Staten Island. When my family moved to Florida, I migrated back to Brooklyn. I've been living in Bay Ridge for the past 9 years. I have worked in Sales at Cantor Fitzgerald for the last 12 years. Prior to that, I worked at Prudential Securities.

I like to consider myself a hopeless romantic. I always dreamed of finding my Mr. Right and living the fairy tale life. For a while there I was concerned I wouldn't find him and then Eddie came along. I'm so happy that I found the man that truly completes me. I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with Mr. Edward Jopp!!!

Tell us about the Groom Where you grew up went to school, where you work.

Eddie was born in Guttenberg, NJ. His family moved to Bogota, NJ when he was 5 years old. He resided there for the next 16 years. He attended the Dewey School from 1st grade through 7th grade and graduated from Bogota HS. He obtained a Bachelors of Science from Rutgers University. His family moved to Paramus when he was 21 years old. He lived with his brother in Weehawken for the past 2 years. Eddie started his career in Sales at Brazill Brothers 11 years ago.

I would say Eddie is a hopeless romantic type too. His mom use to tell him he was to picky but he refused to settle and boy am I happy he didn't!!!

Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty Details.

Ed and I met on Match. I remember my first message from Eddie, it was right before Christmas 2012. I visit my family for the holidays every year and planned to connect in the new year. Our first date was at Sofia's Wine Bar in Midtown. I would never forget his face when he first walked through the doors. He was the sweetest, kindest and most down to earth person I met in a long time. I felt comfortable talking to him and getting to know him. After dinner he haled a cab for me and paid for it. I thought that was such a thoughful thing to do. I told him he didn't have to and he turned and said, "I want to, just see me again". I had planned to anyway but that was the icing on the cake.

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?,etc.

Emily: I knew Eddie was the one after he came away with me and my friends after singlebörse dating for only 1 month. He was so kind and sweet and down to earth. I enjoyed spending all my time with him.

Eddie: I knew she was the one when I had those moments to take a step back and watch Emily interact with my family, as well as her family. The thoughtfulness and love she projects towards others is a unique and special quality that makes me love her so much.

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

We made plans to go to the 81st Annual Rockefeller Tree lighting on December 4th 2013. I thought it would be a cute thing for us to do every year together, a tradition. We planned to have dinner and drinks at a restaurant close by and then walk over to the tree. The night before his sister Catherine called and said that her friend Dorian had two extra VIP tickets for a tree lighting party. There was going to be food and drinks included for the guests so we took the tickets. VIP sounds great to me :) We were super excited because we really wanted to see the actual tree lighting and now we would be front and center.

The morning of the tree lighting, Bob (my boss) says ”I’m making a bet”, as he pulls out a dollar bill. "I'm betting Eddie will propose to you tonight at the tree lighting." I said absolutely not. He’s probably planning on asking my parents’ permission while we’re in Florida for Christmas. Bob kept insisting it would happen that night. He even drew me a picture of a diamond ring, which I took a picture of and sent to Eddie asking if I was getting this tonight. Totally busting his shoes.

Ed was stuck in traffic in the Lincoln tunnel for a while so I decided to start walking towards the Port Authority to meet up with him. We met up in Times Square and ironically we walked through the Diamond District. As we were walking through I said “honey you never asked me what type of ring I like. Lets look at rings. Look at that one, ohh look at this one”. He was cool as a cucumber considering my talk of a possible proposal.

When we arrived at the party, we were so impressed. The party was hosted at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, had a section for the guests literally right under the tree and a great spread of food with a full open bar. We bumped into Dorian and his family and thanked them for the tickets. We saw a few performers, Goo Goo dolls, Mary J, The Rockettes, Jewel, Leona Lewis and a couple others. We thought the tree lighting was at 8, so when we realized it wasn’t lighting until 9, we decided to go back inside because it was getting cold.

We were truly having such a great time. I remember Eddie saying to me, “you’re so happy”, and I was by just by being there with him, sharing this very special tradition. Moments before 9pm, we tried to go back outside, but security had closed off the area. We secured a table inside directly in front of the tree. It was perfect.

After the tree lit up Eddie & I kissed. The tree was beautiful. We walked over to a couch and sat. Shortly after, Eddie pulled out a dollar and said, “I guess I owe Bob a dollar!” I punched him and said shut up and stop messing with me and ran away. He came up behind me and got down on one knee, pulled out a black velvet ring box and said, “When I first met you, you said you wanted to be treated like a princess, would you let me treat you like a princess for the rest of your life?” When I saw the ring I couldn’t believe it. I kept saying “OMG is this real? What is going on?? Is this real?? You really want to marry me??” I busted out into tears of joy. The ring was gorgeous and sparkled like the Eifel Tower sparkled when lit up. Apparently I took a while to say yes, as per Eddie. Lol I guess I was in such shock and disbelief. I finally said yes and we just hugged each other so tightly and I cried tears of joy.

A girl and her boyfriend came by who saw the whole thing. She started taking pictures of us on my phone. She made Eddie get down on one knee again and we reenacted the whole proposal lol. I’m so glad she did that because now we have memories of our very special amazing engagement. Her boyfriend came back with champagne for us too. It was so nice.

The first people I called were my parents. I then spoke to my sisters and Ed’s mommy Rainey and his sister Natalie. Everyone was so excited for us.

I found out after that Eddie had called to speak to my dad on Monday the 2nd to ask permission. Ed also told me that he actually bought the ring on Saturday November 2nd. I remember he left my apartment early that day and said he was going to his nephew Gio's soccer game. It started pouring out and I couldn't get a hold of him. I was nervous so I called and texted his sister Natalie and I couldn't get a hold of her either. Turns out he was shopping for the ring with Natalie and his mommy.

He originally planned to pop the question in Disney World but fate intervened. I'm so happy the way he ended up proposing. Most magical day of my life!!

I’m still floating on cloud 9 :):):):)

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Emily: I love Eddie's gentle and kind heart. And I always get lost in his beautiful green eyes.

Eddie: I love how she makes feel :)

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Emily: Eddie loves to sing the theme songs to TV shows, Games of Thrones is his favorite . I think it's hysterical. He also likes walking around the house acting like Karate Jopp lol

Eddie: Emily gets on me about the quality of my dish washing, Talks loud when I am right there, sings off key but only on the high notes...Emily loves forms and excel sheets. Only uses bounty paper towels because she thinks they are so much better. All reasons I love her so much.

Besides getting married -What is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

We both can't wait to have a room filled with all our family and friends celebrating our union.

What is your favorite trend for weddings right now?

I have always loved indoor / outdoor weddings with lots of outdoor string bulb lighting. Maybe for our 5 wedding anniversary :)

What inspired your decor or theme?

Honestly I found bridesmaid dresses in aubergine that I loved, so I went with that color. We both wanted a modern venue and The Grove certainly fit that bill.

What is one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

I wish I would have taken my time in selecting a wedding dress. The dress I'm wearing is my 3rd pick. Although I absolutely love it, I could have saved a ton of money if I would have simply taken my time.

Why did you pick your Wedding Venue, What Attracted you.

The Grove was the first location we visited and I knew the moment we walked through the doors, I wanted to have our reception there. We knew no other venue would come close to providing us with the excitement we felt as we toured it that day. The venue is exquisite. I'm sure you'll all agree. We loved the beautiful architecture, high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, palladium windows, gorgeous bridal suite, huge cocktail hour room, luxurious main ballroom, breathtaking staircase and romantic balconies overlooking both ballrooms. Eddie was sold on the ladies bathroom. Lol Yes, he checked it out too. We loved that they only cater one event at a time. We also liked the historical building in the back which makes for a great spot for outdoor pictures.
